Am I reading this incorrectly or is the AI that is writing this labeling a lower CPI as a disappointment?

I didn't get it either. Maybe they meant 0.63 instead of 0.36. Typo.

I think what they meant is AI printing 0.36 and that the disappointment would be that it would be lower than consensus of 0.6

There may be truth to this. Seeing many traders be neutral into this print but then they are traders, putting trades based on number/market reaction.

Any number not conforming to expectation is a disappointment. If its higher, its a disaapointment to the upside. The reverse is true.

Read the last paragraph. Inflation will stay high, but not every print goes up.
